Umbilical Cord Blood, Fresh (BIO-CBH-FRESH)
Product Information
Umbilical cord blood is collected by qualified clinicians from full term (37+ weeks of gestation) births. Blood is collected via gravity drip into blood collection tubes with anticoagulant. Samples are obtained using Research Ethics Committee (REC) approved consent forms and protocols.
Pooling: Individual donor
Filtration: Not filtrated
Donor demographics: Age, Ethnicity, Sex
Anticoagulant: Citrate Phosphate Dextrose (CPD, liquid), Dipotassium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (K2-EDTA)
Product Format: Whole blood collected into blood collection tubes with anticoagulant
No BBV testing is conducted on fresh samples, therefore, this product should be treated as potentially infectious. Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols are followed when handling this product.
- For short-term storage, maintain at 2–8 °C immediately after collection.
- Do not freeze or centrifuge prior to processing unless specified by protocol.
- Process within 24–48 hours of collection to preserve cell viability. (For optimal stem and progenitor cell viability, processing within 24 hours is recommended).
Note: Viability and cellular composition may be affected by transport duration and downstream handling conditions.
Suitable for research applications involving hematopoietic and immune cell populations. Common uses include stem and progenitor cell isolation, immune profiling, PBMC isolation, cell culture studies, and assay development. Samples may also be used for genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and functional cellular analyses. For research use only. Not intended for clinical or diagnostic procedures.
Fresh Biospecimens – General Considerations
Handling:
Fresh samples should be maintained at 2–8 °C and processed as soon as possible upon receipt.
Limitations:
Fresh biospecimens are sensitive to transport and handling conditions. Variations in processing time, temperature exposure, and downstream handling may affect cell viability, cellular composition, and molecular integrity.
