Job Description

Vocational Training Manager
SALARY: Minimum £28,000 dependent on experience  
CONTRACT: Permanent.
REPORTS TO: Head of Education
ROLE PURPOSE / SUMMARY: The successful candidate will lead and co-ordinate the recruitment, timetable and structure of the Lab Skills Bootcamps. Liaise with key stakeholders such as Liverpool Combined Authority and DfE to ensure compliance is met when onboarding candidates. Ensure accurate completion of DfE data, registers and feedback. Attend any network events to build relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Work with key stakeholders and governing bodies, to agree, implement and review key strategic principles for successful outcomes.

  • Interrogate and interpret course data to understand outputs and successful results.

  • Identifying new solutions to deliver better service and results for stakeholders through leading change.

  • Accountable for the relationship of key stakeholders and governing bodies such as Liverpool Combined Authority, Department for Education and Ofsted.

  • Follow instructions to carry out improvement and supporting implementation of new policies.

  • Support network with other BioGrad departments.

  • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments, instigating review processes when necessary.

  • Responsible for day-to-day activities working independently as well as collaboratively in accordance with laboratory procedures


2. Health & Safety

  • Comply with all established laboratory standards and adhere to all health and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure working environment.
  • Ensure that you work to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

3. Data Management

  • Ensure correct data is being reported to LCA & DfE.
  • Responsible for accurate data storage for all testing performed as mandated by the standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data management.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments.

4. General

  • Liaise and work collaboratively with other team members.

  • Communicate with other departments efficiently to allow smooth operations.

  • Continue professional development by keeping up to date with all technical knowledge and skills in line with current best practices.

  • Support other departments where required such as PCR, Education, Tender etc.

  • Communicate all issues to senior scientist and/or line manager as required in a timely manner.

5. Leadership and Change Management

  • Proven ability to lead change initiatives and identify innovative solutions to improve program outcomes.
